The stars revealed the actual title of the movie, Descendants: The Rise of Red, on March 21. The project was previously announced at D23 Expo earlier this year under the working title Descendants: The Pocketwatch. As they embark on adventures in the fantastical worlds of Auradon and Isle of the Lost, the kids of Disney villains and heroes are followed in The Descendants.
After actor Cameron Boyce passed away in 2019, the movie will be the first Descendants film to be made without him. Boyce portrayed Cruella de Vil’s son Carlos in the franchise.
Who is in the new Descendants movie?
Pop sensation Dove Cameron, who portrayed the title role of Mal, Sofia Carson, who portrays Evie, the Evil Queen’s daughter, and Booboo Stewart, who plays Jay, Jafar’s son, are rumored to be absent from the movie.
However, Melanie Paxson and Joshua Colley will be returned as the Fairy Godmother and Hook, respectively, and star China Anne McClain will reprise her role as Uma, the notorious sea witch Ursula’s daughter.
Disney also said that Paolo Montalbán, who previously portrayed Cinderella and Prince Charming in a 1997 version of the film, and singer Brandy will reprise their roles as Cinderella and King Charming in the upcoming Descendants movie.
What will Descendants: The Rise of Red be about?
Disney has disclosed that the upcoming film will be set in the fantastical realms of Auradon and the Isle of the Lost. Additionally, Wonderland, a mystical and enigmatic location that will be familiar to viewers of Alice in Wonderland, will be showcased.
The narrative centers on Red, the Queen of Hearts’ daughter, and Chloe, the daughter of Cinderella and King Charming, who cross paths when mayhem breaks out at a royal birth celebration.
Red and Chloe must work together to use a magical pocket watch made by the Mad Hatter’s son to travel back in time in order to avert a catastrophe.
When will it be out?
The upcoming movie, which will be available on the Disney+ premium streaming service, does not yet have an official release date.
The Rise of Red is expected to be released in late 2023 or early 2024, according to fans who have been following Descendants release schedules since the film’s September 2022 commencement.
